Swell-being Project
The Meaning Behind Swell-being
Swell-being is a coined term that combines the words “swell”—the rhythmic rise of ocean waves—and “well-being”.
It expresses our core vision of healing and growth in harmony with nature. Just as ocean swells gently rock the body and calm the mind, we believe that nature can support and awaken each person’s sense of well-being.
The word “swell” also carries meanings such as “to increase,” “to be filled with emotion,” and even “wonderful” or “exciting.”
For us, Swell-being represents a state in which positive energy expands and flows outward like waves—spreading connection, joy, and vitality.
The Swell-being Project explores the therapeutic potential of blue spaces—such as coastal environments and the sea—by developing evidence-based care models for people facing diverse challenges: medical and developmental difficulties, trauma, social isolation, disability, and limited access to nature.
We envision a society where everyone can ride the rhythms of nature, feel safe and connected, and grow in their own way.
That is the future we strive for through the Swell-being Project.
